The Gernsheim piece is OK. His chamber music is better than his symphonic works. The Klughardt Lenore Symphony is the piece here worth listening to. I’m a huge fan of the Joachim Raff Lenore Symphony (his 5th). It’s interesting to hear how two German romantic era, contemporary, composers tackled the same material.
Gernsheim ‘s `Zu einem Drama’ was recorded in a studio seven years earlier and the sound quality is much better in the absence of any comparative performances, Klaus Arp and the SWR Radiofunkorchester Kaiserslautern seem to have the measure of the piece.
