I’ve been wanting to try one of these ultralight down jackets for a while now so when the opportunity came to borrow one, and with a cycle tour coming up, I seized it. The first thing to note about the Haglofs LIM Essens Jacket is the weight… or lack of it rather. 180g for the size large I.
This jacket provides great warmth at a very low weight, thanks to its extremely light and durable fabric and the premium 800 CUIN fillpower goose down it’s filled with. It’s been treated with a fluorocarbon-free DWR so well that the filling stays dry for up to 10 000 minutes of exposure to wet conditions.
Haglöfs Essens III Down Jacket – Performance. The Essens III is a classic lightweight down jacket with a few left field twists. The combination of around 86 grammes of that high-lofting 800 fill power down with soft and light Pertex Quantum fabrics and mini zips, pulls and fasteners boils down to a 280-gramme jacket that’s deceptively warm.
